Saphin: A Star Called Earth

Saphin: A Star Called Earth
(An Sci-Fi-ElectroPop-Soap-Opera)

Earth, Sunday morning, September 23, 2012. <a href="http://www.tim-essquare.com""target="_blank">Tim Essquare has just materialised from another dimension in Times Square, naked, in a giant flash, here to find God... But that, that's not this story. This, is the other story...

...above the planet Spacestation Earth lll sees that same flash but thinks it's WWlll. What to do? Stay and watch helplessly? Or, split and find a new world, a peaceful place. Another home. But where to go? Where else but Mars of course...

Mr. Fixx It's Predicament

He lived on the third space station Earth
Maintaned the satellites around.
Earth so pretty from his Orbiter
He liked to watch the clouds.
And everyday he’d go out for a walk,
In his spacesuit and jet pack
Sometimes he’d tap into the cell phone talk,
or snap some photographs...

And Mr. Fixx it was on the job
His bag of tricks by his side
He’s was a corporate Astronaut
But the thing he had to fix the most
Is floating just above his satellites.

I remember when I first arrived
I didn’t have too much to do
Just a couple baby satellites
The company was new
But when the wars broke out a year ago
We got the contract from the gov,
And now I see the bombs explode below
On this place I Love.

And Mr. Fixx it is on the job
His bag of tricks by his side
He punches in on his Cosmic Clock
But the thing he’d like to fix the most
Is floating underneath his satellites.

Prayed someone would fix this insanity
I never thought that someone would be me

I think there might be something I can do
I can’t watch while sitting on my tools
But I’ve got to keep it from the crew
They’ll think that I’m a fool.
Hijack the station, just drift away
Or sabatoge the satellites
it’s either suicide or save the day
God, tell me, what’s right?
Because

It’s getting closer to the continent
To my hometown near the sea
Been on my phone now quite consistant
With the people that I Love the most
My closest friends and all my family.

And Mr. Fixx It is on the spot
His bag of Tricks close at hand
He’s floating weightless and he won’t stop
The thing he’s gonna fix
Has gotta be the biggest job he’s ever had...

My favorite friend and roomate in this world
Watches with me helplessly
The weirdest part of it is in that world
He’d be my enemy

Time Flies (Chro·no·graphic insect-Ticks-Tocks)

Not a milestone to be found
Deep in space
Once the planets have just
Faded away.
All I have is memory, hopes,
And dreams
And the waiting in-between
Each of these.
It makes little difference if you’re
coming or gone
I you’re beginning or you’re
Just moving on...

Time Flies around my ship,
Like lightening bugs in summer.
Time Flies around my ship,
Like a house flies in The Wiz.
Time Flies...

I’m not sure you understand
What this is:
All that one could take for granted
Isn’t this.
The amenities of ,
Everyday life
Are anachronisms
They don’t apply.
The incremental measurements of
Motion through space,
Are atrophied appendages
Falling away...

Time Flies around my ship,
Like lightening bugs in summer.
Time Flies around my ship
Like a house flies in The Wiz.
Time Flies around my ship,
Just like little gadgets.
Time Flies around my ship,
Like Einstein imagined it.
Time Flies...
Like a house flies in The Wiz...

I was happy when we took off,
Chose the risk we had to take.
Now I’m worried and I’m ticked off
Did I make big mistake...
Have I made a big mistake?

And to say I miss my life
Back on Earth,
Is an understatement like
I’ve never heard.
Either way we go it’s
Life or it’s Death,
The only difference is one’s Blue
And one is Red.
Our Navigation is a
Dot in the dark,
And if it gets bigger then I’ll
Know where we are...

Time Flies around my ship,
Like lightening bugs in summer.
Time Flies around my ship,
Like a house flies in The Wiz.
Time Flies around my ship,
Just like little gadgets.
Time Flies around my ship,
Like Einstein imagined it.
Time Flies
Time Flies
Time Flies
Like a house flies in The Wiz...
Time Flies and I’m a kid
With a bottle catching it...

A Town (On Mars)

The sky is rusty and so’s the ground
This is nothing like home
This place is filled with familiar sounds
But not like I’ve never known.
So I did what I had to do
And now we are here
Fired the retros, then told the crew
We must’ve drifted for years...

To Our Town On Mars
Earth won’t know where we are
To Our Town On Mars
I wish it hadn’t of gone this far...

They kept on calling as we pulled away
Nothing more than “Come in...”
But the wars were worse everyday
We knew no one would win.
So when the time came to go back home
I had the "chat" with the crew.
There was nothing that we could do
And what would we come home to?

This is Our Town On Mars...
Earth doesn’t know where we are
This is Our Town On Mars
It feels just like we’ve been here before...

My best friend in the whole wide world
Couldn’t be that friend to me
If we’d gone back down to that world
He’d have to be my enemy.

The days are longer, but not by far
The years are somewhat the same
The sky at night shines a different Star
And Earth is her name.
We haven’t turned on our radio
It’s just too much to bare
So at night when we watch Her glow
We hope that someone’s still there...

From Our Town On Mars
I wish Earth knew where we are.
This is Our Town On Mars
Looks like someone was here before...

This is Our Town On Mars...
We Hope Earth knows where we are
This is Our Town On Mars
Feels like we’ve been here before...

Come in Space Station, Earth is safe
Everything is A OK
Come in Space Station, Earth is safe
We didn’t mean to let you drift away...

Come in Space Station, Earth is safe
Everything is A-OK
Come in Space Station, we’re OK
Why did you drift away?

2012

This Is What Happened:

It's 2012: things have gotten somewhat heated on Earth, (to say the very least). Not so heated that boiling points have been reached, but enough so that the slightest light of a match, might just do the trick. We're talking global tension tighter than the skin of a bubble.

Space Stations 1 and 2 joined, and Spacestation Earth lll was born. This, in an effort to begin long term living conditions for interplanetary travel, an enormous structure this, so giant it could be seen in the night sky as it "made the rounds" at a mere (not the other Mir) 23,000 mph or so.

Here's the rub: Since things have come so close to exploding, a functional paranoia about it has become commonplace on Earth and in orbit around her. Spacestation Earth 3's Captain affectionately known as "Mr. Fixxit" for his work in satellite repair, has just seen a major explosion-like flash over NYC, Times Square to be exact, just as the sun was coming up. He thinks it's "The Big One". It isn't. But he decides to cut communications and high tail it to Mars, start life again, in peace...

The date: September 23, 2012. What He thought was a bomb couldn't have been more the opposite. It was the arrival "Tim Essquare", an inter-dimensional traveller sent to Earth to find God, and subsequently bring the Same. That story is covered on the Saphin album, "Saphin is Tim Essquare Starring in "Time of the Signs"". This, this is the other story...

09.23.12
We saw the flash and quite honestly, we couldn't bare to stay and see our Planet blow itself into oblivion over God knows what. We've seen too many close calls in years past, too many wars, large and little, but never before have we seen a flash like that in NY. In fact the only flash NY has ever shown is it's natural charisma. New York has always been the one place we could depend on...

So I have done what I felt I had no choice but to do, make a getaway. I've spoken to the crew, they are with me so far. We are going to point the SSE to Mars. It's the only option we have, the moon is full of military miners, a nasty bunch,they...Mars is ours.

10.09.12
Maybe it's space, maybe it's me but I've started seeing trails... Light trails, mostly just coming off the stars, kinda like hyperspace. Thing is we're moving at sub-light speed. I guess it's me, haven't told the crew, can't anyway, there in self induced hybernation and I was the one who volunteered to stay awake. Someone had to keep an eye on things while we approach our new home.
I know I'm only writing this journal for my own sanity, although I'm broadcasting it too, I doubt anyone on Earth will care enough to respond, I'm sure they've got enough to deal with, sorry, you've got enough to deal with right now. As far as Aliens and ET's go, I doubt they would understand English, let alone my little space travel issues, having travelled light years to get here, if they're here at all...

I wonder how my family is, my freinds, my neighbourhood...who survived the idiocy of governmental insanity? I wont turn on the radio anymore, wont look at any broadcasts, can't bare the sight of such madness, we all feel this way, but sometimes at "night", I am tempted...

Ascention in the Ranks

11.12.12
It seems the further wee get from Earth, the more we miss her. This would fall under the category of "Stating the Obvious". But there's something else going on, a certain alien Euphoria of sorts. it's a duality or more alike a concentric states of mind.

As we approach Mars the emotional pull of our home has lessoned, there's an openness of unlimited proportion, a vast and awesome optimism that crystalizes the the essential nature of of our desire for structure. Not to get too garrulous about it but that's really the most appropriate description for this new mindset, it's a higher consciousness.

I have been sneaking listens to the news back on Earth. There was some kind of explosion or how did they put it? A Flash in Times Square. Looks like Fixx wasn't lying, for now anyway.

So until further notice, we're on a high, atop a space scraping jagged Mountain overlooking an unmapped vista of future reminiscence (metaphorically speaking of course) but a high nonetheless.

Co-Stirs and The Deter-Mind

11.30.12
Unimaginable inferences that seem to point to the illogic Spock always hated but couldn't admit to. I'm a fan of the classics, what can tell ya.

One thing seems to lead to another right now, the crew are all looking to one another for comfort. The problem with that is the self fulfilling prophetic fundamental paradox of such a phenomenon. It's a fucking loop/

Fixx is the leader to be sure. The problem there is that he's dead set on setting up a new life on our(?) new world, "problems? what problems?!" He gets extra credit for determination, and loses points for callousness, making it Even Stephen for the time being.

We're here. We might as well get settled in and see what there is to see. Not an easy task. The Alien Euphoria I'd mentioned earlier leads one to also being sedentary and, for lack ,of a better term (and pardon the pun) Spacey. Ahem.

Complacency is not an option. We're either gonna have get it together and dig in, or get it together and dig out. Bubbleheadedness is deterring our progress with either.

The emotional domino effect of sequential mood changes we've been experiencing will be my first task at hand. How to isolate and eradicate the catalyst.

The Spray Paint Angels of Space Maintenance...

12.30.12
The spray paint Angels that layer space with it's beautiful shimmer of satin non glow can seem so somber in the honesty that is the compressive vacuum and cold fusion of vast endlessness. Their job: to cover the holes where the pigment cracks from eons of hovoring black matter can be daunting task to say the least. Goodness forbid what waits behind that veil should be revealed without proper preparation and immaculate instruction.... And yes. I know these sentences run on, but so (far) does this journey, sometimes it too can feel like a sentence of sorts, all comma paused rife with anticipatory continuum, like when you'd wait to use a phone (remember those days) and the person currently on's every body language sylible and verbal mannerism says they're milliseconds away from hanging up... until the climax killing phrase "Oh, by the way...". is inconsiderately uttered, and the whole shallow chat starts up again.

The honey fluid thick viscosity of distant cosmic objects floating by as streams of deep space consciousness blinkings, mesmerize the onlooker and render him temporarily impervious to temporal awareness and physical age progression (irony, paradox?). In that trance the doings and din-ings of usual mind machine clangification is buffered by the velvet rope of fascination with virgin visions in absolute zero. Not in the religious sense: virgin[/], but in the sense that these things have not been seen by these (or maybe any) human eyes through such pure physical atmosphere free clarity, until now.

The occasional passers by in the oncoming lane are on their way to a Planet they may not find in quite the shape they anticipate, not at least, as depicted in the brochures. Then again, we seem to be the only ones on our side of the stellar highway, and we never even got a fuckin' brochure, let alone book a room.

Herd of Sound

12.31.12
We've heard a sound, we don't know what to make of it. there aren't supposed to be sounds in space...! It's very vacuum of non atmosphere wont allow for sound waves to travel. It's run silent run deep.
Have we hit an oxygen pocket? they (theoretically exist). And that SOUND, it was the extended bell ring without fade or cadence, no doppler, no decay, no clang whatsoever, and that was just one aspect of it. there was that Star Trek (classic) planet ambient background din to it as well add to that the whir of our ion engines pulsing us along and a million other unborn sounds unheard by human ears, though somehow familiar from within, like an internally indigenous symphony almost indescribable in sophistication while being simple as a nursery rhyme soniphications, a herd a sound.
